MUSIC FOR THE HEART AND SOUL

Art of the Heart celebrates music, because music invites & expresses the soul!

Music invites us:

  1. Into feeling. Music has a flow, a feel to it. The essence of the sounds, lyrics, and energy of the song provides invites us to enter into what the music is feeling. When we sing, dance or nod our heads along with the music, we allow the music to touch our souls and move our bodies. Emotions can be contagious at a level deeper than our awareness. Therefore the song can invite us into feelings that we may have ignored or neglected.
  2. Into movement. Music can take us on a journey. Music has ups and downs. Music carries stories. We are moved to memory, to tears, to joy, to laughter through songs. Songs invite us to experience e-motion and the sounds will assist us in moving through the experience.
  3. Into connection. Music can quiet our sense of loneliness. Once we hear someone singing or communicating through sound what we felt no one else could understand, our own souls feel heard and understood. We can know acknowledge our feelings more easily because we realize we are not as alone as we may have once believed.
  4. Into wholeness. Music can remind us of aspects of us we denied. Experiences of anger, grief, heartache, longing, childhood, aging, hopeful, and simply being human are highlighted in music. If we listen to a variety of music genre we will get an even wider range of experiences of which to relate. A song can remind us of the beauty, brevity, or brutality of life and love – shifting us into different perspectives and awareness.

Music expresses our:

  1. Feeling. Our souls are often singing. There is a thread of emotion running in us at all times. Songs arise from within bringing awareness to our current state, mood, thoughts in a way that is deeper than logic or reason.
  2. Movement. We can release ourselves to vocalize or dance the songs from within our souls. This movement encourages our emotions to move through us. As our emotions move us, they speak to us about our values, interests, and loves.
  3. Connection. As one expresses emotions out into the world through song, others are invited and often respond. One will therefore often feel less confined and isolated – this can occur even if you are singing in the shower or car. You are still expressing to the world around you (often even more passionately when you think no one can hear or see you) with instrument, voice, dance or even a head bob.
  4. Wholeness. Songs arising in us carry emotional charge that bypass our logic and override our compartmentalization. Songs, like art, paint pictures and speak to us in imagery. Our brains and beings will access a greater awareness through song than just logic or language could provide. These arising emotions can make us afraid if we feel emotions are there to overtake or overwhelm us. Yet if we see emotions as means to bring signals, such as: you care about this, this time in your life was a powerful influence, you are still unresolved on this, etc. we can utilize this insight to allow for greater wholeness.

Notice the songs that speak to you and arise from with you. You may just enjoy more feeling, movement, connection, and wholeness when you do.

Why Art of the Heart celebrates music:

Anything that connects us to our soul facilitates self awareness. Music can speak to us and through us in dreams, subtle humming, or an emotional resonance with a surprise song on the radio. When you learn to play with the sounds of your soul, you access different aspects of our mind as well as heart. Music is a beautiful and profoundly emotional form of feeling, movement, connection, and wholeness. Art of the Heart is committed to you regaining the full feeling of your soul, moving through the journey of your life without getting stuck, connecting with your own heart as well as the hearts of others, and becoming whole through loving all you are.  Art of the Heart and music dance hand in hand.
